Carrie Bradshaw’s rather large closet in last year’s “Sex and the City” movie inspired many women across the nation. No doubt calls to closet designers spiked after the movie premiered. One company that received such a call from a client, with visions of the perfect closet dancing in her head, was Advanced Closet & Storage, located in Fort Myers, FL.

“Loving a challenge, we were very excited when asked to create a ‘Sex in the City‘ closet for Lauren Maxwell,” says Holly Olson, president.

Olson says she rented the movie and paid attention to every detail to make sure she understood what Maxwell wanted. “Lauren is a sophisticated businesswoman with a passion for fashion and shoes, so we made her phenomenal shoe collection a focal point, just like in the movie,” she says.

The custom closet is 123 square feet and includes the following features: high-gloss white drawer fronts accented with brushed stainless steel finished doors, frosted glass inserts and matching brushed stainless shoe rods, mirrors behind shoe storage areas, white vertical panels and shelving in melamine from Tafisa, an island with back-to-back units, a bench seat, two accessory shelf units, top moulding and accent trim inserts in brushed stainless steel and more. A pearl blue granite crystal chandelier is the final luxurious touch.

According to Olson, this dream space is Lauren’s favorite room in the house. But not only did she create a winner for her client, this past May, the design also was awarded “Best Closet Organization System & Design” from the Lee Building Industry Association (BIA) at the 19th Annual Pinnacle and Remodelers Awards competition in Paseo Village Center in Fort Myers.
