“Sex in the City”

Loving a challenge, we were very excited when we were asked to create a “Sex in the City” closet for a new client, Ms. Lauren Maxwell.

Needing more information to proceed, I rented the movie and watched it, paying attention to every last detail, to determine what constituted a “Sex in the City” closet. With this information, we could start planning the perfect closet for Lauren.

Meeting Lauren, my first impression was a sophisticated, feminine business woman, with a passion for fashion and shoes! Together we decided shoes would be the focal point, as in the movie. Lauren worked closely with our team to choose just the right features and finishes to create her dream closet. It was a great experience for our design team.

We chose high gloss white drawer fronts, accented with brushed stainless finished doors, along with frosted glass inserts and matching brushed stainless shoe rods. The frosted glass and shoe rods, are both features we gleaned from the movie.

To reach the high glamor feel, we paid close attention to details for those finishing touches: mirrors behind the shoes, a top rail, accent pieces above the center drawers and island drawers in brushed stainless to tie in with the doors. Beautiful pearl blue granite and a sparkly crystal chandelier, complete this feminine haven.

It was especially rewarding to have Lauren say “My favorite room in my house is my closet!” That said, our Advanced Closet and Storage team, deems our first theme closet as a great success.

Solid Wood – Certified Green

Creating usable, attractive, and affordable storage in unusually shaped space’s, is one talent that has led to the success of Advanced Closet and Storage. Many of the closets in today’s architecturally advanced homes, are not the square or rectangular spaces of our parent’s homes.

As in the Tarano’s new home, the closet areas were anything but rectangular. An integral part of the look of the home, was the absence of doors on several of the closets. Enter Advanced Closet’s beautiful and versatile solid wood ventilated closet system. With our creative and experienced design team and an outstanding staff of finish carpenter’s, we were able to solve the challenges of the Tarano’s new home in the Estuary at Grey Oaks. With the help of Heddy of “Heddy Z Design”, the closets throughout the home were designed and built with specific usage goals, that needed to balance with the visual appeal that could only be achieved by a true solid wood product.

In a seasonal home or in the case of seldom worn clothing, solid shelves inhibit the movement of air through and around the clothing. Ventilated shelving allows for full circulation around all clothing in the closet keeping them fresh. The fluted glass doors, satin nickel hardware, and solid wood components built to the floor achieved the grandeur look and feel that they were after. Being “Certified Green” was an added a bonus!
